The Mortgage Loan Closer is responsible for managing a pipeline to ensure all loans are closed in a timely manner and in accordance with the bank’s and/or investor’s requirements.  Additional responsibilities include serving as a resource for other less experienced colleagues and providing support and training on loan policy and procedures as well as on loan closing software utilized for all Loan Closer’s functions.

 

Compensation: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on experience.

 

This position is located on-site in West Allis, WI. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with loan processor, loan officer, loan underwriter to ensure loan closing.
  • Trains, mentors, and provides leadership to new and existing team members.
  • Prepare loan closing documents for purchase, refinance, construction, consumer mortgage loans using Mortgagebot/IDS or LaserPro in accordance with compliance guidelines.
  • Retains up to date knowledge of secondary mortgage lending and government loans
  • Responsible for resolving problems and working independently with the bank’s compliance department and legal counsel.
  • Assists in the training and implementation of new policies and procedures while ensuring that the procedures manual is current.
  • Assists the department to ensure the accurate and efficient preparation and delivery of the loan documents
  • Reviews loan file for completeness and in accordance with underwriter’s approval prior to preparation of closing package.
  • Monitors high-cost loans and TRID regulations including review of the Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure for accuracy and adherence to the 0% and 10% tolerance rules. 
  • Communicates professionally and proactively with all internal and external parties involved in the loan closing to avoid and/or resolve problems. 
  • Accurately completes HMDA information on all assigned loan files. 
  • Assists team with post-closing job duties.
  • Assists with weekly and monthly reports. 
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of consumer mortgage closing experience. 
  • Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of high school education or equivalent, with advanced education a plus, work requires proficiency in typing and computer software. 
  • Requires an advanced understanding of mortgage closings and problem resolutions. This level of experience is normally acquired during two years of experience in a residential mortgage department or other relevant experience in the financial services industry, as well as an understanding of how it relates to other departments. 
  • A high level of analytical ability is required to gather and integrate data to create the loan closing documentation, checks and GL tickets. 
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of federal and state consumer compliance regulations as they relate to disclosing and closing residential mortgage loans. 
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills. Must have the ability to prioritize multiple work assignments, work independently, remember, and recall a wide variety of information regarding consumer mortgage lending requirements. 
  • The ability to manage high-stress situations and maintain a high level of energy. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer files. 
  • Requires constant alertness and continuous mental application where attention to detail and accuracy is essential. 
  • Involves regular contact with the Central Mortgage Loan Processing Department, Central Mortgage Loan Underwriting Department and Loan Originators on matters requiring courtesy, tact, and the ability to exchange information on factual matters. Also requires good judgement and proper conduct to avoid friction and dissatisfaction and to maintain harmonious relationships.
